This is a cool, calming, conversation piece that could go in almost any room - let your imagination run wild!
 
If you're a Sci-fi fan, Aquarist, Ichthyologist, non-conformist, a child at heart, or would love some lively, life-like, active "creatures" to entertain you, but don't have the time or inclination to take care of a pet, this could be your perfect solution.
 
I can picture it used as decor in home, office, or certain casual business settings.
I don't have cats or kids at home anymore, but if I did, I think that they'd love it. When I did have them, I was always looking for things to mesmerize them ...
 
Because it's vintage ("they don't make 'em like they used to") it's more durable than the bubble towers being sold on other e-commerce platforms (based on reviews I've read)

Pic #10: (The 3rd to last pic) shows how thick the Lucite column is (to resist breakage) + shows how the powerful bubbler generates lots of big, active air bubbles that keep the fish moving up & down inside the column, vs the newer ones that - according to reviews I've read - aren't powerful enough to get the fish moving.

Pic #12: (last pic) This one is interesting for 2 reasons: It shows the date on the newspaper when I bought it (2008 - it's been in storage pretty much ever since) AND it shows the cost to ship it back in 2008..  ($15.15) I just did a USPS shipping cost estimate, & todays rates show the lowest rate as  "Retail Ground": $70.75 - which may be a commercial rate I don't qualify for, Priority: $86.85, & Priority Express: $174.80 - to find out why that's so significant, read my section about why "Free" Shipping is NOT a good thing....
 
Comes empty (no water) & disassembled (fins removed, cap removed) in original vintage box, w/ original packaging & paperwork (unregistered)
